two weeks of free, left-wing political events from different groups and collectives.
Get to know new people, places & perspectives on topics such as anti-fascism, anti-capitalism, feminism, democracy, war & the climate crisis!
We want to network, exchange & learn from each other, because what unites us is the fight for a solidary & democratic society & a climate-just future.
Who can participate?
Anyone can participate – no matter if/where you study – so grab your friends and come by!
What do you need?
You don’t need to bring anything but interest, and you don’t need to register.
Who are we?
We are a loose association of university groups, political groups, clubs, collectives and individuals who come together for the specific purpose of organizing the KOW. The organizing team is formed anew each year and is made up of the organizing groups and individuals. The KOW has a left-wing and anti-capitalist orientation. We do not always hold the same views in detail, but it is clear that we want to distance ourselves from sexism, anti-semitism, racism, queerophobia, ableism and all forms of discrimination and actively try to dismantle discriminatory structures. We want to network, exchange ideas and learn from each other, because what unites us is the fight for a solidary and democratic society and climate justice.
Why a critical orientation week?
New to your studies and curious about what awaits you?
The semester is just around the corner and with it stressful days full of formalities. Uni often feels like a world on its own, even more so in Lübeck, where politics and studying are treated as fairly separate, due to a lack of diversity in the different study courses. However, we are still influenced by and connected to the society and politics all around us. Science and research are becoming more and more restricted by the private economy and neo-liberal politics. During the energy crisis closing down universities and public spaces was discussed instead of asking private companies to pay their share. All while the climate crisis – fueled by the catastrophe of capitalism – is getting worse.
So what to do?
We want to open up spaces for anyone to become active, have dialogues, and get to know an alternative view of Lübeck, scientific, social, and political topics.
Most of all we want to offer an opportunity for exchange and forming new friendships. We want young people in Lübeck to come together so we can support each other and make a change together.
